Pink Shirt Day: Standing Together Against Bullying

Every year, Pink Shirt Day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of kindness, inclusivity, and respect within our communities. Celebrated on the last Wednesday of February, this day encourages individuals to wear pink as a symbol of their commitment to standing against bullying in all its forms.

The origins of Pink Shirt Day date back to 2007 when two high school students in Nova Scotia took a stand against bullying after witnessing a fellow student being harassed for wearing a pink shirt. They organized a movement, encouraging their peers to wear pink to show solidarity and support. This grassroots initiative quickly gained momentum, evolving into a national campaign that promotes awareness and action against bullying.

At Cycling NWT, we believe in fostering a safe and supportive environment for all athletes, coaches, and fans. Bullying has no place in sports or any aspect of life, and we are committed to promoting a culture of respect and inclusion. On Pink Shirt Day, we encourage everyone in the cycling community to wear pink and take a stand against bullying, not just today, but every day.

Let’s work together to create a positive and welcoming environment for all, where everyone can thrive and enjoy the sport we love. Remember, kindness is contagious—spread it far and wide!
