Riding for Awareness – National MMIWG2S Awareness Day

May 5 – Red Dress Day

On May 5, Cycling NWT stands in solidarity with Indigenous communities across the North and Canada as we recognize National MMIWG2S Awareness Day, also known as Red Dress Day.

This day honours the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, two-spirit, and gender-diverse people. It is a reminder that the journey towards justice, healing, and respect is ongoing — and that every step, every ride, and every action matters.

We are guided by Call to Action 41 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, which called for a national inquiry into the many cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls — a call that continues to echo in our hearts.

At Cycling NWT, we believe in building pathways of connection, respect, and safety — on trails, on roads, and in our communities.

Today, we ride with purpose.
We remember.
We honour.
