Road Cycling Race Series Launches May 4th in the Northwest Territories

Cycling NWT is excited to kick off its 2025 Road Cycling Race Series this Sunday, May 4th, with the first race of the season — a 22km Individual Time Trial.

This sanctioned event marks the beginning of a competitive series that will crown the Territorial Champion and contribute to athlete evaluation for the 2025 Canada Summer Games. While participation in the Games is not yet confirmed, this series is part of the trial process.

This weekend’s race will start at 11:00 AM, beginning from Madeline Lake Territorial Park and finishing at Prospector Trail Scenic Viewpoint. Riders will depart in one-minute intervals, racing against the clock on a scenic 22-kilometre time trial in length.

Participants will be categorized by gender. Pre-registration is required to help with seeding and scheduling — so don’t delay!

This is the first of several races in the series that will test endurance, speed, and strategy, all while promoting the growing cycling community in the North.
