Cycling enthusiasts in the Northwest Territories are in for a treat as Cycling Canada hosts an informative session aimed at fostering the development of racing teams for both mountain biking and road cycling. The event, designed especially for youth interested in competitive cycling, will take place at the Sport North Office located at 4908 49 St, Yellowknife, starting at 10 AM.
This session is a unique opportunity for young athletes to learn about the possibilities of representing the Northwest Territories in future races. Although the region is not currently participating in the Canada Games, organizers have submitted a request to Team NT and the host society to consider including cycling in future events. In addition, there are various competitions in the Yukon and southern provinces that local cyclists can participate in. Participants can expect to gain insights into the expectations and commitments involved in representing the Northwest Territories in cycling competitions. The meeting will provide valuable information for aspiring racers and their families.
Following the information session, attendees are invited to join in some fun activities at Tin Can Hill at 12 PM. Participants will have the chance to try out fat bikes and enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate to keep cozy during the outdoor activities.
A huge thank you to the NWT Recreation & Parks Association for supporting us in hosting the event. The Get Active funding helps us to make this happen.
