Cycling NWT is excited to congratulate Thomsen D’Hont and Lisa Wourms, both from Yellowknife, on becoming our 2026 Territorial Road Champions!
The Territorial Road Championships featured two events, the Individual Time Trial and Criterium, giving riders the opportunity to test themselves in two very different forms of road racing. D’Hont captured first place in the male category in both the Individual Time Trial and Criterium, earning the title of 2026 Male Territorial Road Champion.
Wourms matched that accomplishment in the female category, winning both events and becoming the 2027 Female Territorial Road Champion. Winning across both disciplines is a fantastic accomplishment. The Individual Time Trial challenges riders to race alone against the clock, while the Criterium brings riders together for fast, tactical racing. Congratulations to Thomsen and Lisa on outstanding performances throughout the championships.
Thank You to Our Volunteers
Events like these simply do not happen without the people behind the scenes. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who gave their time to help make the championships possible. From course preparation and safety to timing and supporting riders throughout the events, every contribution matters. A special thank you as well to our commissaire, Chris, for his work putting the events together and helping provide a safe and positive racing environment for everyone.
Congratulations to all of the riders who participated, and especially to our new 2026 Cycling NWT Territorial Road Champions, Thomsen D’Hont and Lisa Wourms!
We look forward to continuing to grow road cycling and racing opportunities across the Northwest Territories.
