Yellowknife Fatbike Race Series Wraps Up with Race #4 at Tin Can Hill

The fourth and final race of the 2025 Yellowknife Fatbike Race Series took place on Sunday at Tin Can Hill, wrapping up the season with snowy trails, great temperatures, and strong community energy.

Riders were greeted with fresh snow and classic Tin Can conditions that delivered both fun and challenge. The atmosphere was relaxed but competitive, and it was great to see racers return once more to finish the series together.

Race 4 results saw strong performances across categories, with Thomsen D’Hont taking first place in the Open Male 10 km, followed by Chris Bruckner and Jacob Shank. In the Open Male 5 km category, Steven Thomsen earned top points, followed by Greg Krysko and Nicolas McDonald. In the Open Female divisions, Lisa Wourms claimed first in the 10 km and Dinah Elliott and Petra Szekeres shared the top spot in the 5 km category.

Beyond results, the true success of the series was the turnout, the consistency of riders, and the sense of community that grew week after week. From first-time racers to seasoned competitors, the trails were filled with enthusiasm and encouragement.

Looking ahead, there are already plans to host another similar race series in March. In the meantime, weekly group rides will continue throughout the winter, with the goal of ending each ride at a local restaurant such as Sundog or Barren Ground. These rides will focus not only on training but also on strengthening the social side of the sport and building lasting relationships within the cycling community.

Thank you to everyone who raced, volunteered, cheered, and supported the series. This season proved once again that fatbiking in Yellowknife is about more than competition, it’s about connection, challenge, and showing up.
