Special General Meeting, Strengthening Governance at Cycling NWT

Cycling NWT will be hosting a Special General Meeting on January 19, 2026 to review and approve our updated by-laws.

This SGM represents an important step forward for the organization. Over the past months, we have been working to strengthen our governance framework, align our by-laws with current best practices, and ensure our Safe Sport policies are clearly reflected and supported within our governing documents.

Good governance is not just about compliance, it is about clarity, accountability, and creating a strong foundation so volunteers, athletes, coaches, and partners can do their best work in a safe, transparent, and supportive environment. This process has been a valuable learning opportunity, and one we see as an ongoing commitment rather than a one time task.

We would like to sincerely thank MACA and Sport & Law for their guidance, expertise, and support throughout this process. Their help has been instrumental in reviewing, refining, and aligning our by-laws to better serve the cycling community across the Northwest Territories.

If you are interested in learning more about the proposed changes or would like to participate in the Special General Meeting, please contact us at info@cyclingnwt.ca.

We look forward to continuing to learn, share, and grow together as we strengthen the future of cycling in the North.
