While cycling is not part of the Arctic Winter Games, Cycling NWT is proud to support our Team NT athletes, coaches, and volunteers as they prepare for the 2026 AWG Territorial Trials, happening January 7–11, 2026 in Yellowknife.
This single set of trials, hosted for all AWG sports in Yellowknife and the surrounding area, is a change from past years and comes as part of a financial decision by Sport North to ensure full participation for Team NT while managing reduced Games funding.
The 2026 Arctic Winter Games will take place in Whitehorse, Yukon from March 8–15, 2026. For many youth, the AWG is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete at a multi-sport event, connect with athletes from across the North, and take part in the cultural exchange that makes the Games so special.
Even though cycling is not on the Games program, we encourage our members and community to:
- Sign up as athletes in your AWG sport of choice
- Get involved as coaches and share your expertise
- Volunteer to help make the trials and Games a success
- Cheer on Team NT athletes from every sport
The AWG is a celebration of sport, culture, and community, and we can all play a role in helping Team NT succeed.
More details, including registration links and sport-specific schedules, will be shared in the near future. Let’s come together and show our support for Team NT on the road to Whitehorse 2026!
